Memorial Benches Honor Slain UI Students, Offer Peaceful View with Added Security

Two memorial benches have been installed in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to honor three of the four University of Idaho students tragically killed in 2022. Positioned with a view of the lake the students loved, the benches are equipped with security cameras to prevent vandalism and ensure visitor safety. This addition is part of a broader memorial effort that includes the Vandal Healing Garden in Moscow, where the university community commemorates all four students. Read More...
Coeur d’Alene Public Schools Closed Tuesday (Nov. 5) for Voting

Coeur d'Alene public schools will close on Election Day, November 5, to serve as polling locations. This measure ensures a secure environment for both voters and students while allowing access to school facilities for the election process. Beloved Pet Squirrel Peanut Euthanized Over Licensing Issues, Owner Seeks Justice

Mark Longo, who rescued and raised an orphaned squirrel named Peanut, expressed grief and frustration after New York officials euthanized the animal, citing public safety concerns. State officials from the Department of Environmental Conservation removed Peanut and a raccoon named Fred due to licensing issues and reports of unsafe conditions. The animals were euthanized to test for rabies after Peanut allegedly bit an investigator, though Longo disputes this account.
