The Our Gem Speaker Series is featuring Doug Evans, a natural resources specialist with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), to discuss the ongoing restoration efforts at Cougar Bay wetlands on Coeur d'Alene Lake. Evans, who has spent 25 years restoring natural habitats, will present on the BLM and Coeur d'Alene Basin Restoration Partnership’s work to restore natural stream flow at the mouth of Cougar Creek watershed. The project aims to improve wetland functions, enhance water quality, and support biodiversity. Community members can register at uidaho.edu/OurGem to learn more.

National Animal Poison Prevention Week: Keep Your Pets Safe!

National Animal Poison Prevention Week, observed during the third week of March, raises awareness about common pet poisoning hazards, symptoms, and prevention strategies. Throughout the week, pet owners will receive safety tips from the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center to help keep their pets safe.

One key focus is spring cleaning safety, as many household cleaners contain toxic chemicals. Pet owners are advised to use pet-safe detergents and seek immediate veterinary help if their pet comes into contact with harmful substances.
