City Council Moves Forward with Fire Department Bond Proposal

The Coeur d'Alene City Council has approved a $16 million bond initiative for the May 20, 2025 ballot, aiming to modernize fire department facilities and equipment. If passed, the measure will enhance emergency services and cost taxpayers an estimated $16.07 annually per $100,000 of assessed property value. North Idaho College Settles Lawsuit with Former Interim President

North Idaho College has settled a lawsuit with former interim president Nick S. Rumpler, who sued the institution for wrongful termination in early 2024. Final Cabin Fever Market of the Season
Set for March 29

The popular Cabin Fever Market will hold its final event of the season on Friday, March 29, at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds, bringing together over 70 local farmers and artisans for a day of community, creativity, and shopping.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors can browse a wide array of handcrafted goods, farm-fresh produce, and unique local products—all under the warmth of indoor buildings 1 through 3. Idaho Seeks Public Input on Peregrine Falcon Capture Rules for Falconry

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is currently seeking public feedback on the proposed 2025–2027 seasons for the capture of peregrine falcons from the wild for falconry use.
Falconers and interested community members have until March 25 to submit comments. Final decisions regarding the take seasons will be made by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission during its May meeting in Idaho Falls.
Since 2013, the state has allowed the annual capture of two peregrine falcons for falconry purposes. The proposed regulations for the upcoming three-year period include:
One statewide permit allowing the capture of either a nestling or juvenile peregrine falcon
One permit limited to nestling take in Lemhi and Custer counties, or alternatively, a statewide juvenile take
The peregrine falcon population has seen steady recovery since its endangered status was lifted, and state-managed falconry practices remain highly regulated to support conservation goals while allowing for limited recreational use. Read More…
