Trump Taps Idaho Health Director
Alex Adams for Senior HHS Role

President Donald Trump has nominated Idaho’s top health official, Alex Adams, to serve as Assistant Secretary for Family Support within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Adams, who took over as director of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare in June 2024, is now positioned for a national role that will place him at the heart of federal health and welfare policy.

The nomination has been submitted to the U.S. Senate, where it awaits consideration by the Senate Committee on Finance, chaired by Idaho Senator Mike Crapo. While a confirmation hearing date has not been set, Adams has already received strong endorsements from Idaho political leaders. Idaho Grows Statewide
All 44 Counties See Population Increase

New census data shows Idaho’s population is on the rise once again, with all 44 counties experiencing growth in the past year. The state continues to be one of the fastest-growing in the nation, attracting new residents with its combination of scenic beauty, economic opportunity, and quality of life.

While larger population centers like Ada and Canyon counties saw some of the highest numeric increases, smaller rural counties also posted notable growth. Boundary, Idaho, and Lemhi counties, for example, recorded higher-than-average percentage increases, indicating that population growth is spreading beyond urban areas. Read More…

Teacher Calls Out Board in Resignation

After nearly two decades of teaching, award-winning educator Allison Knoll has resigned from the Lakeland Joint School District, delivering a pointed message to the school board during its March 19 meeting.

Knoll, who spent 18 years in the classroom and was named Teacher of the Year twice, said her time with students was deeply rewarding, but her decision to leave stemmed from what she described as a troubling shift in the district’s administrative environment.

In her resignation letter, Knoll outlined years of dedication—spearheading fundraisers that raised over $120,000 for community causes, launching the school's broadcast journalism program, and revitalizing its drama department. Party in the Dirt Concert

Midland, with special guest Mackenzie Carpenter, will headline the North Idaho State Fair’s Party in the Dirt concert series on August 18. North Idaho with 24,000 Fish

Spring has officially arrived, and so has trout stocking season in Idaho’s scenic Panhandle region. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) is set to stock nearly 24,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout across numerous local lakes and ponds throughout April. The goal is to provide excellent fishing opportunities as outdoor enthusiasts return to the water.

These rainbow trout, measuring around 10–12 inches, are ready to be reeled in by anglers of all skill levels. Among the stocked locations are some favorite fishing spots like Fernan Lake, Lower Twin Lake, and Post Falls Park Pond, with waters conveniently accessible and ideal for families and casual fishers.
