For 25+ years, Pilgrim’s Market has been a beloved fixture in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, providing fresh, local, and organic foods while fostering a strong sense of community. Founded in 1999 by Joe and Sarah Hamilton, the independently owned store has flourished under Joe’s leadership, maintaining a single thriving location despite interest in expansion. More than just a grocery store, Pilgrim’s offers a carefully curated selection of organic produce, meats, gourmet foods, and supplements, with the added distinction of operating its own certified organic farm. Recent innovations include a rotisserie chicken program, an expanded deli with breakfast service, and an in-house beverage program featuring cold-pressed juices and plans for nootropic drinks and house-made beer.

Pilgrim’s Market is deeply committed to giving back, supporting local nonprofits through sponsorships, donations, and its “Dime At A Time” initiative, which encourages customers to contribute by using reusable bags. Looking ahead, the store continues to push boundaries, with the upcoming launch of its own beer production facility as part of its ever-evolving offerings. For those who value high-quality, sustainable food and community-driven business, Pilgrim’s Market remains an essential destination in North Idaho.

Idaho Libraries Prepare for Possible
Federal Grant Cuts

The Idaho Commission for Libraries is preparing for potential disruptions in its federal funding, amid shifting national priorities and political debates around library services. While the agency’s day-to-day operations are funded through state dollars, a significant portion of its programs rely on federal grants administered by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

Federal support, particularly through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), funds a wide array of programs in Idaho, including resources for small rural libraries, statewide databases, digital access, continuing education, and early literacy efforts. In 2024, Idaho received over $1.4 million in LSTA funding, making up about 28% of the agency’s total budget. Learn More…

Coeur d’Alene Tribe and Businesses Unite to Empower Students Through Education

A powerful partnership between the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, the Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber, and dozens of local businesses is paving the way for 204 graduating seniors to pursue higher education, regardless of financial barriers. The collaborative effort, now in its fourth year, continues to grow and provide vital opportunities to students across North Idaho.

Since the Tribe initiated its matching scholarship challenge in 2022, participation and generosity have surged. This year, 154 scholarships were raised through local businesses, and true to tradition, the Tribe matched each one. But when 50 more students still needed support, the Tribe stepped in again—funding the remaining scholarships to ensure no student was left behind. Learn More…
