Female Grizzly Shot in Idaho
Fish and Game Urge Tips to Catch Poacher

Idaho Fish and Game is seeking public help to find the person responsible for shooting and killing a grizzly bear near Island Park. The adult female grizzly was found dead on September 2 in Clark County. As grizzlies are protected under federal and state law, killing one outside of self-defense is illegal. The penalty for poaching includes a $50,000 fine and up to a year in prison. This incident follows two justified self-defense killings of grizzlies in the area this year. (Read More...)

Coeur d'Alene School District Warns of Cuts, Closures if Levy Fails

The Coeur d’Alene School District faces a crucial vote on a $25 million levy, which funds 25% of its annual budget. If the levy fails, the district could see staff reductions and school closures. The levy, which would replace the current one expiring in June, covers essential services like sports, safety officers, and extracurricular activities. Historic Preservation Commission

The seven-member commission in Kootenai County focuses on preserving and promoting local historic and cultural resources. Record Turnout for Fifth Annual
Jackass Half-Marathon & 5K

The Jackass Half-Marathon & 5K, held annually in the Silver Valley, had its largest turnout yet in its fifth year, with over 650 runners from more than 20 states. The race follows the scenic Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes from Wallace to Kellogg and is known for its lively atmosphere, including volunteers in costumes, music, and mini-parties. The event’s growing popularity stems from its fun, energetic vibe and word-of-mouth recommendations. 1st Annual Harvest Festival
Wolf Lodge Campground

Camp Wolf Lodge is hosting its 1st Annual Harvest Festival on October 12th and 13th, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, offering a variety of family-friendly fall activities. Highlights include live music, a farmers market, pumpkin painting, a scarecrow-building contest, and a petting zoo. Guests can also enjoy smores, hot cocoa, a bonfire, and participate in a cornhole tournament. There’s a chance to win over $2,000 in prizes and free stays, with a raffle for Silverwood Season Passes.
