Beloved Grand Teton Grizzly Bear 399
Killed in Tragic Vehicle Collision

Grizzly Bear 399, the iconic 28-year-old bear of Grand Teton National Park, was tragically killed by a vehicle on October 22, 2024, in Snake River Canyon, Wyoming. Known for delighting visitors and wildlife enthusiasts for decades, Grizzly 399 was one of the most famous grizzlies in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, having raised numerous cubs, including a yearling that was with her at the time of the accident. The fate of the cub remains uncertain, though it was not involved in the incident. This loss has drawn widespread attention and grief from the global community that followed her story. Read More...

Catch, Kill, Report: Idaho's Fight Against Walleye in Steelhead Rivers

The Idaho Fish and Game is urging anglers to catch, kill, and report any walleye found in the state's salmon and steelhead rivers. Walleye, an invasive species, is threatening juvenile salmon and steelhead populations as they move upstream in rivers like the Snake and Salmon. Idaho is gathering data to assess the spread and impact of walleye, which can significantly harm native fish. Anglers are a critical tool in managing this issue by removing walleye and reporting catches. More information can be reported to regional offices. Read More...
